Peace and tranquility reign in the Mares family home.

It could be strange when dealing with a family that lost their son less than ten days ago, but Eduardo and Mariana convey serenity, integrity and of course there is immeasurable pain.

However, they themselves make it clear to

Clarín

: "

Here you will not find crying parents, or despair, or drama. Forget it

."

In Benavídez, in a spacious house, Eduardo Mares and Mariana Presta receive this chronicler in a bucolic garden, with a table where there are soft drinks, coffee and brownies.

In the distance, tied to a tree, Maia won't stop barking, Luna, a smaller one, is hyperactive and Nilo, a black kitten, also appears.

There is a friend of the family who was already part of the picnic in a climate that, it is insisted,

has nothing to do with that of a family that was, metaphorically, overwhelmed by a tsunami

.

On Sunday, January 24, Matías Mares (24), passionate about adventure sports and motorcycles in particular, had an accident in the Cariló dunes, where he was on vacation, when he collided with a UTV vehicle.

On Wednesday 27, as a result of the serious injuries, the Pinamar Community Hospital

confirmed the brain death of the young man, before which his parents decided to donate his organs

.

"What happened to us with Mati was part of a divine plan. It has to be a teaching," says Mariana.

"Here you will not find parents crying or despair", complements Eduardo.PHOTO JUANO TESONE

Matías Mares, a 24-year-old young man who worked in his own business and was one year away from graduating as a mechanical engineer.

He was passionate about motorcycles.

"I went to see Matías as many times as I could and his face, his expression was at peace. I spoke to him, put music on him,

did reiki sessions, induced him to hypnosis and I perceived that he was listening to me

, because the frequency in the The monitor from which he was connected would go up, gain strength. And he would talk to him, asking him to be calm, not to push himself,

for his soul to decide what to do

and not to be worried about his father, who was not going to challenge him ", reveals Mariana , Matías's mother, who for years has been working spiritually, taking training in bioenergetics, cellular memory and biodecoding.

Eduardo, by his side, nods, although he admits that it is more difficult for him to dive through those more abstract universes "because I am more basic, more rustic if you like, but I listen to my wife and

I must admit that it is good for me to find the peace that we have

. And it is true what Mariana said, because I would have challenged Mati, he knows me -he says in the present tense-, he knows that I am very demanding, but I would have said to him

'how did you not realize that The other vehicle was coming, how could it pass you !? '

. I was always severe because I took care of my children, I insisted on taking all the precautions, on having all the protective equipment in place, the insurance up to date. "

Mariana listens and ironically: "That's why Mati did not return, for fear of the challenge."

Mariana speaks of

peace, light, "a divine plan" and a strong connection with her son

as he fought for his life.

Eduardo did not dare to go in to see him, "he didn't have enough balls, sorry for the outburst."

But his wife told him as much as he wanted and reproduced what she said to Matías.

"Son, it is your decision,

we are not going to beg you to stay at any cost

. 'Please, do not die!'. No, not at all, if he was going to die, let him go quietly, as finally he left ... I had the serenity so that my Mati did not feel the weight of having to get out of her situation whatever it was ... Whatever it has to be and that's how it was. "

Mariana was with her son Matías in his last hours of life and appealed to his spiritual formation to connect with Matías.

"I spoke to him, I did reiki, I induced him to hypnosis, and I asked him to decide what he wanted to do." PHOTO JUANO TESONE

Eduardo Mares, an electromechanical technician, and Mariana Presta, a dentist, have been together for more than thirty years.

After a long courtship they were married in Polynesia.

At first glance you can see

a couple solid as an oak, and indestructible, capable of cushioning "this bombshell

.

"

The passion for iron Matías was fed by his father, but with the endorsement of his mother, that

is

why

there are no reproaches or invoices

in this marriage that defines itself as "crazy parents, out of the conventional, who deeply love their sons".

Nicolás, 16 years old, still very affected by the loss of his brother, is not at home.

She is more mystical, he is more religious.

Both took care of their son "until he became a man, who must be allowed to fly,

our son flew with all the teachings we offer him and died in his law,

" they assert.

"That is why I say that we are crazy parents," Eduardo continues, "because we understood the madness, the passion that Mati had for motorcycles. He had his first quad at the age of three, imagine if he did not know how to handle them.

He knew all the risks, the risks. of the dunes

, which are like waves for surfers, you have to respect them, and I taught him the tricks and let him know what are the traps that dunes have ".

In the house of the Mares, Matías is omnipresent.

In each room of the house there are photos in different moments of his life

,

almost always on top of a vehicle or wearing similar outfits.

"He never had a scratch, can you believe?"

Eduardo repeats, focusing his gaze on the different images.

Meanwhile, Mariana accompanies this chronicler and the photographer to Matías's room, who had his house but came and went during the pandemic.

"Here is the suitcase with his clothes and all the things we brought from the coast, we hardly touch it."

In the room there are trophies, a ball, a guitar, helmets, hats and a spectacular photo on the head of the bed in which Matías is seen on a quadricycle executing an impressive jump.

Every corner of the room is a little story, an anecdote

that Mariana and Eduardo relate with a smile, a smile of pride for their son, "who

from heaven is giving other people the opportunity to live

, and that is a satisfaction, a relief amid the immense pain ", they remarked.

When on January 27 Soledad, a psychologist from Cucaiba (the Incucai in the province of Buenos Aires) told Mariana and Eduardo that Matías had entered brain death, they

needed to be alone to think about what to do, what steps to follow

.

They went to the Valeria del Mar apartment that Matías occupied, reflected, consulted with those closest to him and

concluded that they would donate their son's organs: heart, kidneys, liver and corneas

.

"It was not an easy decision, imagine, disconnect your son, whose heart is beating was terrible," says Mariana looking for a glass of water.

Passion has no borders.

Soledad, mentioned psychologist, served as interlocutor.

She explained what the intervention would be like, they signed the consent for disconnection and organ donation, and on Thursday the 28th the ablation procedure began.

A few hours later, on Friday the 29th, already en route to Buenos Aires, a gratifying sensation, unthinkable and impossible to suppose, broke out within the situation:

Matías's heart was already beating in another person

.

An exultant message came from the psychologist.

"

They made a

match, they

made a

match!

Your son's heart is one hundred percent compatible for a 26-year-old girl

, by Florencio Varela."

Mariana and Eduardo received the news with a wide smile.

"It was a boost and an injection of strength that helped us get home here," Eduardo says.

"He used the word 'match', which is often used to know if there is empathy in relationships.

Mati's heart had to be in that of a girl,

" smiles Mariana mischievously.

Message of happiness that Mariana received on her facebook, from the daughter of a recipient of an organ from Matías.

That was the first caress of many others that were going to appear

.

"We knew through the Incucai psychologist that they had very carefully studied the list of those in need of organs at the national level and we were impressed with the haste, diligence and professionalism with which they moved to preserve the organs. We were surprised because we did not know what the organ was like. deployment".

And they began to ask permission on their social networks for friendship requests and messages that, at least from time to time,

returned the soul to the body

.

On Saturday, just a week ago, at this same table in the Jardin de los Mares, while Mariana was preparing a mate, Eduardo received some lines via Facebook from an unknown person, named Naty A, who is about to read.

"I would like to let you know that

today my husband had his son's kidney transplanted, an organ that he waited ten years for

. My husband, my son and I are very grateful. May God bless you for life."

That message was received

a couple of hours before Matías was buried

in the San Fernando cemetery, which was another source of energy to face such a task.

On Tuesday, February 2, speaking with her brother, Mariana learned that the son of an acquaintance of the Mares family received Matías's other kidney.

"It was all very crazy, the sick boy is called Lucas V, he is Omar's son, who worked with me for many years. He knew that Omar had passed away and that his son was very delicate but he did not know what he had. When we found out that Mati's kidney was for him, there we made the association and it gave us great joy, because we know that Lucas is made of good wood.

We looked at the sky, and we thanked Matías, we told him how proud we were of him

".

One day later - Wednesday - the family shelf is moved again for another breath of air with Matías fragrance.

Mariana received a friend request on Facebook and then a message that said it all.

"Thanks to your decision, my father is alive today.

He needed a liver to continue living and it was his son's, who arrived just in time to save him

. I hope there are more people like you in the world. There are no words for describe the gratitude and emotion ", Mariana and Eduardo read and clear their throat the message from Iru R.

Goose bumps, an explosion of anguish for Mariana who later, more relieved, took the time to answer Iru: "

It is life beyond life, not death,

" he wrote.

"How happy that Mati continues to give life! I hope your father recovers soon, Mati's is a very healthy liver."

Except for the corneas, which are in a waiting organ bank, "our son illuminates four people of which

three were in a terminal state

."

Matías Mares, a 24-year-old tourist, died this Thursday after suffering an accident with his motorcycle in the Cariló dunes.

He collided with a UTV and suffered brain death.

On January 15, Matías left for the coast from this same house and, as always, the words of his parents were not lacking, separately.

"I grabbed it before leaving and repeated several times: '

Mati, know it, on top of the bike, you are the bodywork,

" Mariana tapped him.

"That same day he accompanied me to a clerk's office and I just said: 'Son,

this time more than ever, I ask you to take care of yourself with the motorcycle

, because because of everything that is happening with the pandemic, you cannot fall into a hospital. I told him knowing that he was prudent, I repeat, never even a sprain ", recalls Eduardo.

"And he replied: '

Old man, stay calm, it will be so

.' And I have no doubt that it was."

They look at the floor, they find no explanation, but their hands search for each other, meet and squeeze each other hard, puff up their chests, look up.

"

Passion has no borders, it cannot be measured

, this can happen, the accident is within the possibilities, of course, and we always took it into account, we knew that something could happen, so Mati had all possible security measures But it

is impossible to imagine the death of your son

, one expects a blow, a broken leg, an arm, not this ", estimates the father.

In addition, Matías was a young athlete "who took precautions but without fear, he was not afraid and

thanks to his very high self-esteem, any sport he undertook he did well

. Days before going on vacation he put on water skis and the

guacho

did it without He was a lifeguard, he had done the CPR course, he was a prepared person, "completes the mother.

The turns of life, from the age of four Matías went to Sworn College,

the same one that, later, was Justina Lo Cane, the adolescent who suffered from heart disease,

who died in 2017 at the Favaloro Foundation waiting for the donation of a heart and that his death prompted the Justina Law, which establishes that all those over 18 years of age are organ donors, unless they expressly state otherwise.

"That school transmits solidity in values and principles and in its shield it says 'stand sure', something like 'be sure, well standing before life', which is what the institution tries to promote with those who study there. We never spoke about it, we have no doubt that

organ donation was what Matías would have wanted

. "

More than three hours have passed, the night is pleasant and Eduardo and Mariana would continue talking about Mati until dawn.

Unbreakable they claim "to be whole and at peace,

because our son transmits peace to us

."
