"
The Sassi of Matera yesterday and today. The photographs of the Viggiano Fund in comparison with the current ones
" is the title of the book by
Roberto Nadalin
, a Roman architectural photographer, published for the types of Edigrafema and created with the collaboration of the Regional Council of Basilicata.
Using the same shots of the shots taken by the late Viggiano, Nadalin highlights the changes,
from the post-abandonment situation to the current one for cultural, tourist and hospitality use, of the Unesco World Heritage.
Fifty-six
historical
photographs
of the Viaggiano Fund, kept in the MiBACT archive,
compared with as many images of the current scenario of the Sassi
, taken with the same point of view by Nadalin.
Accompanying texts by personalities from the academic and cultural world, translated into English, analyze the changes in places in these nearly fifty years.
The publication has been authorized by the Central Institute for Catalog and Documentation of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and, through the Department of European and Mediterranean Cultures, has obtained the patronage of the University of Basilicata.
The work aims to offer, through "image parallels", a renewed historical, architectural and anthropological point of view of Matera of yesterday and today.
