(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 08 - Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Burma for the third consecutive day, to protest against the coup d'état that overthrew Aung San Suu Kyi, with workers who responded to the call for a general strike and they are joined to the frond.

At 10 am local time (4:30 am in Italy) more than a thousand people demonstrated in Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the economic capital of the Asian country.

Demonstrations also took place in many other cities in Myanmar (formerly Burma), with many residents parading on their two wheels at a horn concert, such as in Tangû, 300 kilometers north of Yangon.

Law enforcement officers used water cannons against protesters who were protesting today in the Burmese capital Naypyidaw against the military coup.

At least two people were injured, witnesses report.
