While, in hospitals, doctors warn about deprogramming and clusters linked to variants, Public Health France recorded, this Monday, 460 new deaths due to Covid-19, as well as 4,317 new contaminations with the new coronavirus.
These 460 new deaths, which have occurred in hospital, bring the total number of deaths in France to 79,423 since the start of the epidemic a year ago, Ehpad included.
At the hospital, in fact, 27,995 patients are currently being treated following a Covid-19 infection, against 27,573 on Sunday and 27,874 last Monday.
Among them, 3,353 are in intensive care units, against 3,148 Sunday and 3,218 last Monday.
Over 2.2 million vaccinations
Public Health France also counted 4,317 new contaminations with the new coronavirus on Monday, against 19,235 on Sunday and 4,347 last Monday.
In terms of vaccination, the Directorate General of Health records a total of 1,920,064 first injections of vaccine and 296,265 second injections, on nursing home residents over 50 years of age or frail, as well as on caregivers over the age of 50. 50-year-old and vulnerable elderly.
The progression of more contagious variants worries many caregivers and epidemiologists.
Faced with clusters at the hospital, infectious disease specialist Gilles Pialoux, from Tenon hospital, warns: "If we do nothing to stop these variants, we are going straight into the wall," he said.
