You can hardly see them, but they could be dangerous when consumed: A Rewe product is suspected of containing splintered hard plastic - the manufacturer therefore reacts immediately.
Mashed, baked or roasted: Germans love potato dishes.
In the supermarket you can get potato pancakes, fried potatoes & Co. frozen and even ready-made.
But now a large German manufacturer is warning of one of its finished products.
Wildeshausen - crispy baked in the oven, potato rösti taste particularly good with game ragout or a mushroom cream sauce in winter.
They are a little easier to serve with herb quark and vegetables.
Anyone who last bought the popular potato product in the supermarket for such a recipe idea should now check their freezer compartment.
The
Lebensmittelvertriebs-GmbH (LVG)
is currently recalling one of its products.
The reason: Your
potato hash browns
could contain dangerous impurities, which in the worst case could even lead to serious internal injuries.
Recall campaign: Rewe potato hash browns could be contaminated
The potato rösti were sold nationwide by the
supermarket chain Rewe *
under the
own brand "Beste Wahl"
in
600 gram bags
.

- Product warning (@ Produktwarnung1) February 6, 2021
The LVG fears that the potato rösti with the
EAN number 4388860610741
could contain splinters made of hard plastic.
The small parts are not only around ten millimeters in size, they are also transparent.
So they could really be a danger for those who eat the potato hash browns.
The plastic splinters * could not only injure the mouth and throat when chewing and swallowing - once swallowed they could also cause serious internal injuries or bleeding.
“Best choice” hash browns: The best-before date is crucial
Not all Rewe-branded "Best Choice" potato rösti are affected by this precautionary recall, the LVG assures.
Only the potato products with the
best before date *
December 16, 2022, December 17, 2022
and
December 18, 2022
are suspected to contain the splinters made of hard plastic.
Rewe customers who now find out that they are affected by the recall can return the products in the branches and receive a refund of the purchase price even without presenting the receipt.
