(ANSA) - SANREMO, 08 FEB - A group of "rebels", men who put their "face and blood" to build the new Italiarisorgimentale on the wave of many Mazzinian ideas, the "Macchiaioli";

people "irreverent and free towards traditions and convictions" which owe to a woman, Anna Franchi, activist and art journalist, the writing in 1902, first among the critics, of the memories of the artistic movement.

    "If you make this book - wrote Giovanni Fattori -, you will find more consolation than a cross, because these will be the words of a friend".

A recognition that not only has the flavor of a personal act, but which ideally gives proof of the value of the female figure in the work of the artists of the "stain".

And precisely on artists such as Fattori, TelemacoSignorini, Silvestro Lega, revolves the reopening in Padua of the exhibition "The Macchiaioli. Masterpieces of Rising Italy", edited by Giuliano Matteucci and Fernando Mazzocca, until 18 April, after three months of closure due to the pandemic Covid.

    Inaugurated on 24 October last, in just four days of opening before the blockade it had attracted about 2000 visitors.

A cultural strength, in a city that at the same time, in this new phase of reopening under the color "yellow", an exhibition on Van Goghe Giotto at the Scrovegni Chapel.

At Palazzo Zabarella, during the period of suspension of visits, the research work continued on the group which in the mid-nineteenth century marked a turning point in painting in Italy.

A research, this time, not centered on the scenes of the battles, on the soldiers or the Maremma landscapes, but on the women who supported or were in contact with the Macchiaioli - from Isabella Falconer to Fiorella Favard del'Anglade, to Titta Elisa Guidacci, Maria Ottavia Vettori Medici, Elisa Fabbroni or Teresa Fabbrini, who was alongside Diego Martelli, historical patron-collector of the group gathered in Castiglioncello.
