Kindergarten children with signs suggestive of Covid-19 will now have to stay at home for 7 days. Objective: to stop

Beware of less well!

This Tuesday - 48 hours after the note from the General Directorate of Health (DGS) strengthening the fight against Covid-19 variants, especially at school - the Ministry of National Education updated its health protocol said reinforced.

The text now provides that kindergarten students showing symptoms and who have not been tested will be subject to "eviction for seven days until the signs stop [...]".

The ministry specifies that "rhinitis alone are not considered to be symptoms suggestive of Covid-19", in reference to runny noses or, on the contrary, are blocked.

But it does not specify which are the "evocative" signs.

The protocol also recommends "an additional eviction 48 hours after the fever has disappeared".

It should also be noted that returning to class after this isolation "is not conditional on carrying out a PCR or antigen test", but simply on strict compliance with barrier gestures, being reminded that "wearing a mask does not apply. not to kindergarten children ”.

"It will be difficult to sort it out at 8:30 am"

This announcement comes as the spread of British, Brazilian and South African variants, more contagious than the original strain, raises fears of more significant contamination in schools.

"Their circulation is now in the minority but presents a risk of immune and vaccine escape", it is specified, in the preamble of the note.

In other words, not only cases of re-infections are not excluded but these mutations could weaken the effectiveness of the vaccine.

According to figures from National Education on Friday, 934 classes are closed because of the Covid-19.

A small number, 0.17% of the total of classes, but more than twice as high as the previous week!

If the measure can be understood in view of these data, it remains to apply this umpteenth restriction in the field.

In kindergarten, feverish outbreaks, runny nose, oily or dry cough are very common pathologies in winter.

“It will be difficult to sort it out at 8:30 am every morning, and especially to tell parents, without warning:

You have to babysit your child all week

.

We are going to come up against refusals, that is obvious and we can understand it, ”anticipates an Atsem (Specialized territorial agent for nursery schools) from the Paris region.

In a few days, the High Authority for Health (HAS) must issue an opinion on saliva tests suitable for children, which will be deployed in schools upon return from winter vacation.
