A labeling according to the farming method based on criteria that look at the "animal welfare" of dairy cows and to make citizens the protagonists of the transition to more sustainable systems: a "method on the label" ranging from green to "organic" "to the black sticker for the" intensive "one.
This is the proposal launched by Compassion in World Farming (Ciwf), an association for the welfare and protection of farm animals, and Legambiente.
In an online event, they hope that "the next Government, through the ministries of Agricultural and Health Policies, and Accredia (the single national accreditation body), will operate with greater transparency than the previous ones, fully involving civil society, and therefore consumers, in the creation of national animal welfare certification standards ".
It is a table, consisting of six "methods", with which to easily identify the different farms on derived products, for which Ciwf and Legambiente deem necessary "a voluntary, univocal and national labeling, which makes consumers more involved and aware of daily food choices "allowing" a contact with what happens at the beginning of the supply chain, with the animal that produced our food ".
