The payment of the IT bonus for teachers postponed to the end of February

2021-02-09T21:13:19.997Z

This bonus for teachers' computer equipment was to be paid in January. Worth 150 euros, it is considered insufficient by some unions.

It is the incomprehension among the professors.

All expected to receive, with their salary for the month of January, the computer bonus promised by the government.

Worth 150 euros, it aims to finance part of their purchases of computer equipment in order to carry out their courses, in particular at a distance.

Its payment was postponed until the end of February.

This one-month postponement is due

"to arbitrations"

, explains Guislaine David, co-secretary general and spokesperson for SNUipp-FSU.

"Its payment was decided on January 1, 2021 but the Ministry of Education had to make arbitrations to determine who can touch it in each department before the payment"

, she specifies.

However, wages are calculated at the start of the previous month.

The bonus having been integrated in January, we must therefore wait for the pay for the month of February for it to be paid.

This is confirmed by the Ministry of Education:

“Regarding a new allowance, IT developments were necessary to adapt the human resources information system.

The bonus will therefore be paid on the February salary ”

.

"

What caused feedback from colleagues is that in a video sent to teachers in November, the minister had indicated that it would be paid in January, which led to misunderstanding"

, explains Guislaine David, regretting a lack of communication on the part of the state.

A discussed amount

This aid intended for teachers under the Ministry responsible for National Education and psychologists of National Education was validated by a decree of December 5, 2020. The official text however excludes teacher librarians and principal education advisers (CPE) ), which the teaching staff denounced.

If they will not receive a bonus in February, they are not left out for all that, assures the Sgen-CFDT.

For these two categories, this assistance will be materialized by a valuation of 150 euros of premiums already received.

The timetable for its implementation has yet to be specified but it should be effective in the coming months, specifies the union.

Another point of contention is the amount of this aid deemed insufficient by the SNUipp-FSU.

"We have been asking for an equipment premium for a very long time, but it is not sufficient, it does not allow you to buy a computer"

, points out Guislaine David.

According to the union, which regrets that the amount has not been calculated according to the needs of the teaching staff but in terms of the available budget, the bonus should amount to 500 euros per year.

For its part, the Sgen-CFDT prefers to see an

"advance"

for the profession and is satisfied with this sum deemed

"suitable"

.

"If we are in a logic of depreciation, a computer costing between 400 and 500 euros is depreciated over three years thanks to this aid"

, explains Laetitia Aresu, national secretary of the union.

"This bonus is essential because the teachers and staff of National Education work with their own material without any financial compensation," she

recalls.
