Moroccan singer Sana Muhammad received harsh reactions and even threats on her life following a duet with Israeli singer Elkana Marciano.

Muhammad recently joined Marciano and the two recorded together "Junamar", the first collaboration between musicians from the two countries.

The song itself, which was released yesterday (Monday), is the result of a Moroccan-Israeli collaboration, with the songwriter Marwan Asil writing it together with the composer Ofir Cohen.

It is sung in both languages - Hebrew and Moroccan, and carries, as usual, a message of unity, peace and brotherhood between the two peoples.

According to reports on Arab news sites, the singer faced heavy barrages of visits on social media after the song was released, and was even arrested at the Kuwait airport, where she often performs.

It is also reported that the singer "went underground" after an interview she gave to the Israeli media.

According to Marciano's people, the connection between the parties was forged between the managers of the two singers following the singer's performance in Dubai.

Muhammad is a successful singer in Morocco, while Marciano burst into gratitude as the winner of the third season of the 2014 reality show "The Voice".

While the two countries have decided to normalize relations between them, it is clear that some Moroccans are not yet ready to accept the relationship between the two peoples.

A similar case of boycott threat occurred last November, when Egyptian singer Muhammad Ramadan was verbally assaulted after posting a picture of himself alongside singer Omar Adam in Dubai.

Maori Tzurur, who represents Marciano and the said project, said: "Elkana Marciano and Sana Muhammad performed a joint duet for the purpose of peace and unity between the peoples, due to the recent peace agreement between Israel and Morocco. We will continue to make music in order to connect people and peoples. "
