After three days thrown away due to bad weather, we are finally here and tomorrow the sun will shine in Cortina accompanied by a great cold that will only do good at the bottom of the Olympia delle Tofane and Vertigine.

These are the two tracks on which the super-G jet girls and boys will compete tomorrow on an inevitably intense day with two races within a few hours to make up for lost time from Monday to Wednesday.

So now all the focus is on the two super-Gs of tomorrow.

The first to start will be the women's one, at 10.45.

The title will be defended by the made in USA super champion Mikaela Shiffrin, a true collector of world gold medals as she already has 5 gold medals in the palmares as well as two Olympic gold medals.

But with her will be above all the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami, fresh from four victories in the super-G series.

An amazing career behind which only world gold is missing: she is the super favorite.

But it is also with the other Swiss Corinne Suter, the powerful Czech Ester Ledecka and the Austrian Tomara Tippler that the two top Italians Marta Bassino and Federica Brignone will have to contend with.

Federica in super-G has two third places to her credit in this part of the season while the Piedmontese Bassino won a good second place in St. Anton.

They are both athletes of great technique and strong competitive spirit.

If tomorrow the bottom is tough, as the weather suggests, and the track is more like a fast giant than a slower descent, then the two Italians will be able to assert themselves.

"This break eve served to recharge and refocus me for the super-G. The days without competitions were still tough, especially when I was ready to go down with bib 1 but the fog, postponement after postponement, blew everything up," he said Marta Bassino.

Federica Brignone is no less confident: "skiing is like this, what happened was stressful, but you have to adapt. Tomorrow it will be nice and cold: there will be equal conditions for everyone and this is what counts" With them for the 'Italy there will then be Elena Curtoni and Francesca Marsaglia in the race.

Francesca has a good fourth place in Crans Montana and Curtoni an eighth in Val d'Isere as her best super-G result.

They too have potentially and in their legs - perhaps with a bit of luck that never hurts - the possibility of grabbing a medal, even if they are the first to know that it will be a very tough battle.

In the men's super-G (1:00 pm) the blue Dominik Paris will defend the title won two years ago in Aare.

With the super-G - a race often no less fast than the descent but without timed trials with only reconnaissance to study the terrain and the track, relying on experience, instinct and courage - there will be the official entry into the major circuit of Vertigo.

It is a new and unknown track to most of the athletes at the start.

It is a beautiful track just below the Tofana, very exposed.

It is no coincidence that these days there has been a great deal of work to bring down masses of snow that are dangerous and could turn into avalanches.

"It is a track on which we have never skied apart from the Italian championship in 2019. It will all be a bit new - Paris said on the eve - but in these conditions usually the most experienced will be able to better understand where you shouldn't go wrong. The important thing is to be concentrated at the moment of departure and then give everything in the minute and a half of the race. This is the sport done and that's why it's great. "

With him the other blue star tomorrow will be Christof Innerhofer, world champion in 2011 and with a couple of good races behind him this season, always close to the podium.

"I'm calm, I took advantage of this forced break to rest a little and to do some athletics. Lately I've been skiing well and therefore I'm confident in my means. I hope that this time we can start and that the race is regular for everyone. There are many athletes who can do well and I, as usual, will be in attack ", assured 'Inner'.

And the rivals will be above all the Austrians, very expert in this discipline, led by Vincent Kriechmayr and Matthias Mayer.

But the Norwegian Aleksander Kilde and the Swiss Marco Odermattl can also be dangerous.

Mattia Casse, Emanuele Buzzi and Matteo Marsaglia will also be on the track for Italy - who can field not four but five athletes given the title of Paris -.

Who knows that tomorrow they will not be able to draw the race of life.
