The number of patients admitted to intensive care showed a slight drop on Wednesday, with 3,309 patients treated.

The figures seem to confirm day after day that the circulation of the coronavirus in France is not exploding.

But the spread of the coronavirus variants, which first circulated in the UK, South Africa and Brazil, still poses a threat.

This Wednesday, the French health authorities identified 25,387 new cases of Covid-19 contamination, against 18,870 the day before and 26,362 seven days ago.

Since the start of the epidemic, 80,443 deaths have been recorded in hospitals and nursing homes, according to Public Health France, including 297 in hospitals in the last 24 hours (after 439 Tuesday).

27,417 hospitalized patients

In hospitals, 27,417 patients remain under care for coronavirus infection.

A figure that continues to drop slightly: they were 27,634 Tuesday and 27,953 last Wednesday.

Out of this total, 3,309 patients developed a severe form of the disease requiring treatment in the intensive care unit.

That is a slight decrease compared to the 3,332 serious cases identified on Tuesday.

They were 3267 last Wednesday.

Finally, since the start of the vaccination campaign in France on December 26, 2020, 2,056,572 first injections of vaccine and 443,148 second injections have been carried out.

The people currently vaccinated are part of the priority groups defined by the health authorities.
