The menu of restaurants of the former Top chef who continue to deliver during the epidemic

In the Paris region, 37 establishments run by ex-candidates are still open, despite the ban on on-site catering.

Top Chef season 12 is tonight!

The cult show of M 6 raises the curtain in a particular context.

2020 and 2021 have put a strain on restaurants.

French cooks have gone in a few months from the status of standard bearer of French culinary heritage to that of collateral victims of the Covid-19 crisis.

Despite the bans on table service, many restaurants are trying to find solutions to satisfy their customers.

Start by delivering or offering their takeaway meals.

The same goes for several establishments run by former Top Chef candidates.

Many have closed their doors, "until further notice" can be heard on some answering machines.

“Take away”, “delivery” reads on some sites.

Here is therefore an overview of the establishments set up by the former stars of the small screen, and of those available, in the Paris region, despite the impossibility of sitting down there.

119 restaurants, run by 102 Top Chef alumni

In France, we identified 98 establishments frequented by former candidates.

Others have been exported to Spain, Monaco, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, or further afield, to Jordan, Rwanda, the Philippines, Japan.

Twelve establishments are in Belgium.

Natural, given the large Belgian delegation present throughout the seasons.

Some have started, others stay in the kitchen.

Juan Arbelaez, Colombian candidate for season 3, has been opening a series of establishments since, six on the counter, including the Greek restaurants “Yaya”, in Paris (19th century), Saint-Ouen and La Défense.

These cooks of a new kind quickly made a place for themselves in the Bible of the world plate: the Michelin Guide.

To date, 12 establishments have won one star.

Only one, La Scène (Paris XVII), run by Stéphanie Le Quellec, has collected two.

Closures, deliveries or take out

How to order your delicious plates, despite the closure that hits the restaurants?

For many establishments, especially in the countryside, this is simply not possible.

In the Paris region, however, we identified 37 establishments open for delivery or take-out, despite the storm.

Many have adapted their recipes to facilitate transportation.

This is the case of Neso, a starred restaurant, run by Guillaume Sanchez (season 8), still open, rue papillon (Paris IXe).

On the menu, massive cheeseburger with Basque meat or revisited “fish and chips”.

It will cost you 14 euros, 20 euros with a dessert.

Not bad for a star.
