Construction site in Jena: A district heating pipe is damaged

The city of Jena has declared a disaster because a district heating pipe is damaged.
The city announced that the district heating supply was interrupted in parts of Jena-Nord.
Around 6500 households are affected.
The heat supply cannot be restored during the night.
The people in the affected areas were "urgently asked to keep windows and doors closed and to take precautions to keep the heat in their apartments for as long as possible." The municipal utilities worked "with all available resources on troubleshooting." it will be around minus ten degrees Celsius in Jena.
According to the city, the corona-related contact restrictions have been lifted for those affected.
It is therefore “permissible for members of a household to take in all members of a household threatened by the cold.” However, “the usual hygiene rules should be observed.” The city will organize emergency accommodation.
The people in the area from Jena-Nord II to Zwätz should also be prepared for reduced heating, it said.
The local heating network is still working, but only with the remaining heat and with support from the biogas plant in Zwatzen.
