(ANSA) - ROME, 11 FEB - The last farewell to the mountaineer Carlo 'Cala' Cimenti and his excursion partner Patrick Negro, who died in an avalanche on Monday in the upper Valle di Susa, was a toast.
So his wife Erika and the closest friends wanted to greet 'Cala', "as he would have wanted", outside the San Restituto church, in Sauze di Cesana, after the function of Don Gaetano Bellissima and Don Angelo Zucchi.
"I tried to hold him close to me. He went away, but I loved him so much", were the words of the wife of 'Cala', famous in the world for his exploits.
In Pomaretto, on the other hand, in front of the Waldensian hospital, farewell to Negro.
His wife Sabrina, accompanied by their children Alain and Stephan, thanked those present.
This morning in Pragelato, where the two alpinists were born, a moment of meditation was held, which was attended by the mayor Giorgio Merlo and the mayor of Sestriere Gianni Poncet.
"From today our country is poorer", Merlo said, while Poncet recalled the moments shared with Patrick Negro, who worked for Sestrieres Spa and was a volunteer of the Alpine rescue.
"Sestriere and the world of Montagnare really a great person," said Poncet.
