It is a new very secret book which nevertheless features well-known names.

One year after "Consent"

"Vanessavirus" appears a year after "Le Consentement", in which Vanessa Springora recounts her relationship under the influence at the age of 14, in the 1980s, with a man who is 35 older.

She also describes at length this man's taste for sex with underage boys and girls.

Five minutes to understand the Gabriel Matzneff affair

If "The Consent" never cites the name of Gabriel Matzneff, Vanessa Springora confirmed when it came out that it was indeed him.

The writer, now 84 years old - and who describes himself in his new book as close to death - is being investigated for rape of minors under 15 years old.

In his text of some 85 pages, described as a "story", Gabriel Matzneff deplores the attitude of former friends who let go, without naming any, according to an AFP source who insisted on remaining anonymous.

Five unwavering supporters

He also cites "five unwavering supporters, according to him, to which he wishes to pay tribute: Catherine Millet, Dominique Fernandez, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Franz-Olivier Giesbert, Alain Finkielkraut", continues this source to the press agency.

Novelist Catherine Millet said in June that she did not regret having signed a petition launched by Gabriel Matzneff in 1977 for the decriminalization of sexual relations with minors.

Academician Dominique Fernandez signed a forum in January 2020 against “the good conscience” of those who attacked the writer.

The philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, who has made several laudatory reviews of the books of Gabriel Matzneff, did not comment on the subject after "Le Consentement".

As for the journalist Franz-Olivier Giesbert and the philosopher Alain Finkielkraut, in January 2020 they put the seriousness of the case into perspective.

The first had estimated that "we can not throw names in the pasture", and the second that "the Springora case is not a case of pedophilia".
