(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, 11 FEB - A 4-hour block of all Indian trains on 18 February is the most sensational of the series of initiatives announced by Samyut Kisan Morcha, the united front of peasant unions, to involve the entire country in protest against the agricultural trade reform.

    On February 12 the peasants will mobilize to make all the highways in the state of Rajasthan free from tolls, on the 14th they will organize torchlight processions throughout the country to commemorate the martyrs of the Pulwama attack, which killed 40 soldiers in Kashmir in 2019;

on the 16th they will remember the figure of Chhotu Ram, the agrarian leader protagonist of the struggle for Independence.

    In a video on the Facebook page of the KisanEkta Morcha organization, the president of the organization Vikas Sisar said: "The initiative we are most proud of is the commemoration of the martyrs of Pulwama, which will prove that the Veripatriots are the farmers and the soldiers."

    Now there is a real tug-of-war between peasants and government: the talks between peasant leaders and government representatives are suspended, after reaching a dead end;

The government, last week, segregated the camps of farmers demonstrating on the outskirts of Delhi, surrounding them with metal barriers, barbed wire, concrete walls, and interrupted the internet service for hours.

Prime Minister Modi also repeated three days ago in Parliament that if the peasants agreed to verify the effects of the reform, they would understand that they could benefit from it.
