Countdown to the long-awaited return to school.
February 17 is D-Day for the return to classrooms in the city of Buenos Aires and the province of Jujuy, and March 1 for the rest of the jurisdictions.
However, as there are staggered and reduced working hours, which will make it impossible to organize a family routine, the National Government ordered that
employers grant work leave for one of the parents
or dependent adults.
Although it was not yet published in the Official Gazette, it is a measure issued by the Ministry of Labor at the national level and that establishes that the mother, father or adult in charge of the minor who does not attend classes or has a reduced working hours, you will have the
right to a work leave without suffering any economic discount
.
With the pandemic installed in society and in the midst of a vaccination plan that is advancing at a slow pace,
the parents' concern is not being able to face a routine
as happened in the "old normal".
This prompted the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Women and the Ministry of Education to make the determination that it will be made official with the publication - soon - in the Official Gazette.
The presence of this mother is essential in her home, so she will be justified in not attending her work.
“What we did was to
renew the justification for the absence for the person whose presence at home is essential for the care of the child or adolescent.
The difference is that the different jurisdictions will have their own measures of modality and start of face-to-face classes.
Last year it was all over the country, so everyone was at home ”, explained this Thursday Claudio Moroni, Minister of Labor.
How is absence from work implemented?
"You simply have to present an affidavit detailing the days and hours of your children so that
if the employer wanted to control, he can do so,
" said the official, who stressed: "We do not ask for any special certification or that it is something issued by the school, since they will
be based on the principle of good faith
, which governs every agreement between the parties ”.
However,
absence from work will be justified only in the case of two specific situations of those in school
: 1) The days in which they do not attend face-to-face classes at the respective educational establishment.
2) The days that attend with reduced contact hours and the normal and usual school day of the corresponding educational establishment cannot be fulfilled.

What information should the affidavit contain?
1) Those of the boy, girl or adolescent.
2) Degree or year of study and data of the educational establishment to which it attends.
3)
The face-to-face regime that has been established in that institution
.
4) The declaration that their presence at home is essential for the care of the child or adolescent, on
the days in which they do not attend face-to-face classes
or the normal and usual school day of the educational establishment cannot be fulfilled.
"We are experiencing
a medieval phenomenon in the 21st century
that has complicated everything, that is why the justification for non-attendance was renewed," the minister concluded.
This Friday, President Alberto Fernández will lead the meeting of the Federal Council of Education (CFE), in which the Minister of Education, Nicolás Trotta, and his peers from the 24 jurisdictions will participate in person at the Olivos Presidential Farm.
The summit that Fernández will preside over will be marked by the start of the 2021 school year,
which will be anomalous and totally different from the years prior to 2020
, when the pandemic had not yet broken into the world.
