According to the association France Urbaine, the large cities of France would like to proceed with an “experimental” reopening of cultural places.

The big cities are ready to proceed with an “experimental” reopening of museums, theaters and cinemas, in order to find with the State the “necessary adaptations” for the resumption of their activities, indicated in a press release the association France Urban, this Friday.

Museums and monuments will be the first cultural places to reopen, ensures Bachelot

Like cultural professionals, local communities would like to “study the conditions for a gradual reopening of cultural facilities,” explained the association, which brings together large cities and metropolitan areas.

Too early to set a date

It pleads for a "territorialized" and "progressive" approach, in consultation with the State.

"These reopenings could be established within the framework of a first experimental phase according to the cultural facilities and the territorial health parameters", specified France Urbaine.

Asked Wednesday about the reopening of museums, the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot, reaffirmed on France 2 that it was “still too early to set a precise date”.

Two days earlier, she attended a meeting with museum representatives, who were arguing for a reopening during the February recess.
