Fresh, fragrant rolls are not only the highlight of breakfast on Sundays.

If the bakery has closed, you don't have to go without it - thanks to this recipe.

Fresh rolls are lovely, aren't they?

Hardly anything smells and tastes like a relaxed Sunday like a warm bread straight out of the oven.

But you don't have to go to the bakery for it.

With this simple recipe, you can make homemade rolls quickly and easily - guaranteed.

Ingredients for lightning rolls

  • 200 ml of water

  • 50 g milk

  • 1 pinch of sugar

  • 1 cube of yeast (fresh)

  • 500 g wheat flour (alternatively: spelled or rye)

  • 55 ml sunflower oil (alternatively: neutral rapeseed oil)

  • 1 level tablespoon of salt

  • Optionally some milk and grains for sprinkling

How to prepare the lightning buns

  • Mix the milk, water and sugar together well and heat the mixture to around 30 to 35 degrees.

    Hand warm is

sufficient, otherwise the yeast will break down.

  • Now crumble the fresh yeast into the warm liquid and let it develop for

    five minutes

    (small bubbles appear).

  • Now mix in the flour, salt and oil and stir everything into a smooth dough.

If it's too sticky, mix in flour spoonfuls until you are satisfied with the consistency (not too sticky, not too crumbly)

  • Now cut off about twelve rolls, roll them into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

  • Optionally, you can also sprinkle the rolls with grains.

To do this, first dip in milk or lukewarm water and then in the desired grain mixture.

    Then place on the tray.

  • Push the finished tray into the oven and set the fan to 200 degrees.

  • Place a fire-proof bowl with boiling hot water.

The steam keeps the surface of the rolls moist and helps them rise well.

  • The rolls rise nicely in the preheating time of the oven and are baked in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the oven.

  • So you only have to prepare a maximum of ten minutes and can use the baking minutes to shower and set the table - and then simply enjoy the fresh rolls.
