Sixteen people slightly injured and countless damage: Thursday evening, the province of Izmir in Turkey suffered a violent storm of rain and hail with the passage of a tornado.
The downpour, which formed in the Alacati port area, caused extensive damage by overturning a crane, several vehicles and tearing off roofs.

According to initial reports, four roofs were ripped off, windows smashed in twelve buildings and four boats sank. Waterspouts and tornadoes are common in Turkey, mainly in the south of the country. Between 1980 and 2013, 59 tornadoes were recorded across Turkey according to the National Weather Service.
