Usually on Weiberfastnacht the carnivalists in Cologne are very busy - but this year the celebrations were banned due to the corona pandemic.
However, according to the city, individual people did not obey the rules.
From late Thursday afternoon to early Friday morning, the city security service recorded 80 missions, as the city announced.
During this period, numerous notices, complaints and reports about gatherings in public spaces and about party noise from private rooms were received.
Around 30 costumed people gathered in a park to celebrate a party.
This was apparently organized by a commercial enterprise: »Rescue workers found alcoholic beverages and food in the operation that were sold.
A cash register was also discovered. «The participants of the party face a fine of 250 euros.
Because of parties in Cologne apartments, a total of 40 people are now also facing a fine of 250 euros each.
In the evening, among other things, an alleged celebration in an apartment in the Deutz district was reported to the public order office.
The message states: “When the security service arrived, loud music could be heard from the house.
Three people left an apartment, under their jackets and coats the people were wearing carnival costumes.
The host opened the door for the emergency services in a rabbit costume with a Kölsch glass in hand. "Here, too, fine proceedings would be initiated.
According to the information, the public order office also registered 58 violations of the mask requirement and individual violations of the alcohol consumption ban in public.
According to a spokesman, the Cologne police recorded a "historically inconspicuous" Weiberfastnacht.
In total, there were only 16 events related to Carnival - compared to 571 last year.
No pickpocketing was reported and no one was taken into custody.
