At this level, Maud Baecker, 32, who plays Captain Dubreuilh, is struggling to win alongside Nicolas Marié, who lends his features to Louis Kléber.
The 66-year-old actor is excellent at a gruff old man but also weakened by personal injuries.
His abrupt manners give rise to delightful scenes and it is really he who gives all its salt to this fiction which unfolds touching themes.
