A rowboat, a huge ice floe - and a mission: to reach the mainland.

The recordings from the Finnish archipelago spread online - and even landed on the US news.

But what was actually going on on the southwest coast of Finland?

The drone filmmaker gives us information.

Senja Larsen, drone filmmaker #PandemicParadise

»We've been living here on the island since the pandemic - and some time ago the sea froze over.

First my husband tried to move the ice floe with a stick from the beach - and was very excited when he was able to push it away a little.

The next day I saw him on the rowboat. "

Senja lets her drone fly - as is so often the case - and documents the attempt.

»At first we had the feeling that nothing was happening.

It was very slow - but when I accelerated the recordings twenty times, you could tell how the clod was moving! «

The problem in the archipelago: The sea freezes over, but the ice is far from being thick enough to be really resilient.

The state can last for weeks - the lockdown here is then entirely arranged by nature.

Fortunately, there is the drone for vision.

»Here it is - my extension.«

As a business and tech editor, Senja's location is actually Silicon Valley in California.

But because of Corona, the correspondent came back to Finland in the summer.

Under the hashtag #PandemicParadise, she continues to offer an insight into her everyday life in the archipelago on social media.

After the surprising success of their first video, the series continues.

And with it a positive message in the middle of the dragging corona crisis:

Senja Larsen, Tech Editor

»The feedback was so positive.

The ice floe video is probably metaphorical for this Corona time: as if Corona had frozen our world, we are all totally tired and hope for an end to the pandemic.

And this rowing is symbolic of the fact that everyone is pushing their own ice floe in front of them - but slowly we are moving towards spring and an open sea. "
