The Syrian Science Olympiad team won a bronze medal in the info (1) International Cup for Informatics, organized by Romania remotely with the participation of students from 13 countries.
The Excellence and Creativity Authority stated in a statement, which SANA received a copy of, that the bronze was achieved by Hussein Ahmed Busbet from the National Team for the Syrian Science Olympiad for Informatics from Damascus Governorate, Al-Bassel School for Outstanding Students, indicating that this is the first international participation for students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for the year 2021.
The authority indicated that the competition was held for five hours from nine o'clock in the morning until two o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, Sunday, in two examination centers in the Damascus Governorate within the headquarters of the Excellence and Creativity Commission and the Homs Governorate at Al-Baath University.
Syria was represented by the Syrian Science Olympiad in Informatics team, consisting of four participants, two of whom arrived at the national team in January 2021.
The competition aims to encourage talented adolescents in the field of informatics and evaluate their knowledge on the theoretical and practical levels in order to qualify them to participate in the International Informatics Olympiad and to develop their level of specialization.
Syria's last official participation in this competition was in 2019, when the Syrian Scientific Olympiad team won one silver and two bronze medals.
