Clubhouse, doubts about privacy and data to a Chinese company

After the popularity comes the perplexities on Clubhouse, the social media of the moment that bases all interactions through the use of the voice alone.

According to the Stanford Internet Observatory, the platform has cybersecurity vulnerabilities but mostly privacy flaws.

In fact, most of the data flow rests on a third company called Agora, which is Chinese and based in Shanghai.

And, therefore, the data and audio recordings would eventually also be accessible to the Chinese government which just last week banned the use of Clubhouse for users in the country.

"We have determined that a user's unique ID number is transmitted in the clear and that Agora would likely have access to the users' raw audio, potentially providing access to the Chinese government," the researchers explain in a blog post, specifying that the discovered security breaches have been disclosed "privately to Clubhouse and will be made public when corrected or after a set deadline".

Alpha Exploration Co. - the company that developed Clubhouse - told the Stanford Internet Observatory that it is tightening security measures, including blocks that prevent the app from transmitting feedback to Chinese servers.

China blocked the app in the country last week.

Some users, in fact, overcoming the block on the Internet, were able to download it and start talking about human rights.
