A 2 euro coin is worth two euros.
But if there are miscarriages, flaws & Co., it can go a thousandfold.
Then what to do with it?
We clear them up.
You see it again and again on eBay or other marketplaces: euro pieces that are offered for many times their actual value.
It is primarily 2 euro coins that come from Europe.
Many then wonder: How does it work?
Rare euro coins are in great demand among collectors
If you then read through the descriptions of the commandments, it quickly becomes apparent that these are very rare coins that are therefore in great demand among collectors.
After all, they are not ordinary coins, but come from special editions, commemorative coins or they have so-called incorrect coins that make them so special.

flaws can enormously increase the value of a coin

Often the owners do not even know that they have such a valuable coin in their wallet - who takes a closer look at their change?
But it always shows - a quick look is enough if you know what to look out for.
But how do these distinctive "features" come about?
After all, the embossing machines recognize during production if an error has crept in.
In addition, it is not as if the mints are not checked regularly.
There are always
random checks
.
Nevertheless, it can happen that every now and then a coin with a rare misprint slips through - and ends up on the market.

Stamp rotations
: These occur when the stamping tools used for this purpose are aligned for the front and rear sides in an offset angle to each other.
If you then tilt the coin about its longitudinal axis, the coin image is finally at an offset angle between ten and 350 degrees.
However, stamp rotations at an exact 180 degree angle are even rarer.
Embossing weaknesses
: Individual parts of the picture are only
faintly
recognizable.
Outdated maps
: Often these are (old) euro coins, on which the various
EU extensions
are missing on the payment side.
erroneous inscriptions
from other EU countries and not from the country in which the coin was minted.
Overprinting
of individual parts of the coin image by other coin (blanks).

Double minting
: Here an already completed coin was minted again by
repeatedly striking the stamp
.
This can be seen from the fact that the contours can be seen at least twice on both sides of the coin.
If the coin is struck several times, it increases its value enormously again.

Double countersink
: This is also due to a faulty stamp.
Individual, smaller parts of the coin design then appear twice on the coin.
"Zainenden": The
shape of the coin is not circular, but rather
deformed.

Catawiki & Co .: How to sell euro coins with incorrect minting profitably
But what should you do if you happen to find such a wrong coin in your wallet?
How can you then turn this into money?
Various advisors then like to refer to
coin professionals or coin dealers
.
But you will also
find
out the information you need
at
coin collecting fairs and online forums
.
However, if you want to determine the value of your coin yourself, you can also consult various coin catalogs.
The "
Great German
Coin
Catalog
", which shows coins from 1800 to 2017, is
recommended for newer coins
.
All coins, including commemorative coins, numis letters, gold coins and circulation coins, from Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria are listed here in
original size with front and back

But
beware of the antique or gold dealer
around the corner!
According to various expert sites, these are mainly interested in maximizing profits.
In concrete terms, this means that the valuation of your coins can drive up the price, but it can also
raise
false hopes
.
In the end, the calculated value is completely excessive - and you are left with your coin.

Professionals also advise against marketplaces such as eBay.
There are not enough experts and collectors around here who neither have the specialist knowledge nor the necessary budget.
In the end, you
don't get a fair price for the coin
.
Anyone who still wants to sell their coins online should find out about the value of the coin beforehand.
This is
done
via
(international) online auction
platforms such as Catawiki.de.
A large number of buyers and experienced experts cavort here who examine your coins and offer them for sale in auctions.
After you have registered for free, you can also set your objects on your account.
These are then
valued by experts and released for auction
.
You can also use Catawiki to process all your transactions.
But be careful: not every coin is a bad coin
If coins have been in circulation for a long time, they wear out due to constant contact or use
.
It is therefore possible that coins that appear particularly conspicuous are not necessarily the same as incorrect mints.
Often it is only a matter of signs of use that can look deceptively similar to an incorrect coinage.
Counterfeits are also in circulation again and again.
This is why it is so important to first subject the respective coin to a professional examination at a coin dealer - whether stationary or online.
