Born in 1967 in Reunion Island, Tonton David, whose real name is David Grammont, was one of the leading figures of French reggae.
Son of a musician, he discovered reggaeton during a concert in England in 1987 before signing his first album called
Le Blues des racailles

in 1994, him a few years later opened the doors to a mass audience.
Sold nearly 350,000 copies, it earned him a nomination for the Victoires de la Musique.
