(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 16 - The police in Uganda arrested two men intent on whipping a puppet with the features of President Yoweri Museveni on a busy street in the capital, Kampala.
This was reported by the Daily Monitor, which also published the photographs of the arrest via Twitter.
The two, Luta Ferdinand Male and Nsereko Asharf, told the police they were activists of a movement and accused the president for the controversial elections on January 14th, although Museveni, re-elected for the sixth term, has previously denied any wrongdoing.
Kampala police spokesman Patrick Onyango confirmed the suspicion, adding that the two men are accused of disturbing public peace.
Museveni's main challenger, former singer-turned-opposition leader Bobi Wine, has filed an appeal against the election results in court.
Last week, the Parliament of the European Union called for sanctions against individuals and organizations involved in violations of human rights during the elections, defined as undemocratic and lacking in transparency.
