Since last Thursday, rescue workers have been looking for a 69-year-old who has not returned from a fishing trip in the north of the Australian state of Queensland.

Now human remains have been found inside a captured crocodile, as reported by the US broadcaster CNN.

It has not yet been clarified beyond any doubt that these are really body parts of the missing person.

According to the Australian police, the location of the reptile speaks for it.

In addition to the police and fire brigade, local boat clubs were also involved in the search.

In addition to the 4.20 meter long animal, another, somewhat smaller crocodile was found in the area near Hinchinbrook Island.

According to the authorities, this could also have been involved in the attack.

The exact course of the alleged attack is not yet known.

However, the experienced fisherman's boat showed significant damage, as the lead investigator Andrew Cowie said.

Among other things, bite marks could be seen.

He spoke of a “tragic incident” and cautioned: “It is very important that people are aware of their surroundings.

No matter where you are in northern Queensland, there are snakes in the forest.

And the crocodiles are in the water. "

Already the third attack within a few weeks

Another fisherman reported to the station 7NEWS of an encounter with a crocodile near the suspected attack site.

"The animal was as long as my boat," says Luke Nation.

The crocodile rammed the boat and terrified the occupants.

"It just didn't want us there, I think," Nation said.

If the attack is confirmed, it would be the third attack by a crocodile in Queensland this month, according to 7NEWS.

The other two incidents, however, remain without fatalities.
