On the day of the return to classrooms in the City, the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, affirmed this Wednesday that
he could not
"allow another year without face-to-face classes",
in the framework of the coronavirus pandemic.
The president of the City spoke at a press conference at the close of the opening day of
the 2021 school year in CABA.
Classes began this Wednesday in 2,117 educational establishments.
"Since last year we were convinced that this year could not be the same as the previous one in educational matters.
We could not afford another year without face-to-face classes
," said Larreta.
The Buenos Aires Minister of Education, Soledad Acuña, responded for her part
to the Ademys teacher strike
.
The union had called for the measure considering that
the sanitary and building conditions are not there
for the face-to-face start.
"
The strike was absolutely irrelevant.
The teaching presence was higher than at any other time of the year and we are very happy about that," Acuña responded to the press question.
The official also said that
"perhaps at some point presence will have to be restricted",
taking into account, for example, the possible impacts of a second wave of covid, but that the objective is "always to return" to presence.
