Navalny: legal, Strasbourg asks for immediate release

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has demanded that Russia immediately release Alexey Navalny.

This was supported by the lawyer of the opponent, Olga Mikhailova, quoted by Interfax.

"This is the first time that the Court has taken such a decision and the Russian authorities should implement it," he stressed. 

The European Court of Human Rights' request to release Navalny is illegitimate and cannot be implemented, said Russian Justice Minister Konstantin Chuychenko, quoted by Interfax.
