(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 17 - "Although the first and most durolockdown had a serious impact on operations for a quarter of the year, the resilience of our businesses led to a net profit of 1.2 billion euros in 2020" , underlined to the CEO

of Poste Italiane, Matteo Del fante, announcing the preliminary results for 2020. "Consequently - he indicates - it is our intention to propose a dividend of 0.486 euros which represents an increase of 5% year on year".

    The Poste Italiane group closes 2020 with a net result down by 10.2%, revenues are down by 4% to 10.526 billion.

    The accounts of the last four months of 2020 are showing strong growth, closing with a net profit up by 18.7% compared to the same period of 2019, to 308 million; + 1.4% revenues to 2.96 billion;

The operating result (Ebit) grew by 19.6% to 280 million.

"Poste Italiane reported solid results in the fourth quarter, with all segments contributing to the progression of operating profitability, laying solid foundations for the future growth of all our businesses", comments Del Fante.

    The results show that with 210 million parcels delivered in 2020, volumes have more than doubled since 2016: the growth in parcel revenues in the fourth quarter "for the first time more than offsets the decline in mail order revenues".

There is also evidence of net deposits from postal savings which, with an outflow of € 0.6 billion, are at "record levels since 2012".
