The decision to postpone the opening of the ski facilities will dramatically weigh on Italian white tourism: 12.4 million fewer tourists who will generate lost revenues for the sector equal to over 9.7 billion euros, as emerges from a note from the Demoskopika Institute for the period from December 2020 to March 2021.     There are 5 winter tourist destinations that are most penalized: Trentino-Alto Adige, Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy and Veneto, whose loss of tourist spending represents 86.2% of total Italian lost revenues, equal to 8.3 billion euros.

In detail, the white lockdown could generate a scissor cut in receipts equal to 3.2 billion euros for Trentino-Alto Adige, 2 billion for Piedmont, 1.3 billion for Valle d'Aosta, to almost 1 billion. 1 billion for Lombardy and 886 thousand euros for Veneto.


    The ordinance that established the closure of ski facilities until next March 5 risks, therefore, to definitively bring winter tourism to its knees in the beautiful country represented by 6,170 kilometers of slopes with about 1,800 ski lifts serving the ski areas that produce work. for as many as 14 thousand people in addition to related industries.

The average expenditure per capita estimated to support the white week is equal to 785 euros per person.
