In the year of Covid, more news for Rai, more films for Mediaset

(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 18 - The pandemic, the political crisis, the economic and social events have had a profound impact on the programming of the generalist networks, changing the balance of the schedules and differentiating even more the Rai offer from that of Mediaset.

The privileged genre of the public service in 2020 was information, that is news, columns, inquiries, current affairs, debates, parliamentary information, with 7,300 hours broadcast;

for Mediaset fiction (films, series, miniseries, sitcoms, soaps and telenovelas), with 9,600tre.

    This is the picture outlined by the new issue of the Observatory of the Phrases Studio which analyzed the types and genres proposed by the generalist channels Rai and Mediaset throughout 2020, based on the Nielsen classifications used by Auditel.

    Considering the offer of Viale Mazzini, the most significant difference concerns the service information broadcasts (such as Italian Stories and UnoMattina), of which Rai broadcast the past year in total 112,108 minutes (1,868 hours, over 77 days); news (1,450 hours plus for Rai), science and environment cultural programs (63,953 hours more).

   For Mediaset, films (2,795 hours more than Rai), TV series (1,655 hours), cartoons (789 hours), soap operas (497 hours), light rotogravure (such as True or Live is not the D'Urso) make the most difference ) with 453 hours of difference, poisitcom (425 hours), telenovelas (317 hours) and reality show (312 hours).
