Damascus University and the Regional Planning Commission signed today a memorandum of understanding with the aim of supporting and developing cooperation in the fields of national and regional planning, scientific research, rehabilitation, training, knowledge dissemination and community service in the fields of development and planning of all kinds and levels.
The memorandum provides for the organization of joint seminars and workshops, and visit programs for professors, researchers and students to view projects and studies carried out by the two teams.
According to the agreement, the university allows the employees of the Regional Planning Commission to apply for qualifying postgraduate degrees. The university also contributes to providing expertise, consultations and studies for the proposed projects that the Commission undertakes through professional work at the university and the expertise it has.
Under the agreement, the authority cooperates to enable researchers and graduate students at the university to obtain the required expertise in the field of spatial planning. The proposed projects are nominated in the authority to be projects for university students, especially the Higher Institute for Regional Planning.
It is noteworthy that the Authority is affiliated with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, and its tasks include preparing and implementing national directions for regional planning, setting regional and structural frameworks and studies, and supervising their implementation to achieve balanced regional development.
