He is one of the most powerful and colorful figures on the German hip-hop scene.
In 2009, the rapper Giwar Hajabi, known under the stage name Xatar, was involved in the attack on a gold transport, for which he had to go to prison.
He then made a career as a rapper and eventually built various music companies for which he signed young hip-hop artists.
It has now been announced that the filmmaker Fatih Akin ("Short and Painless") wants to film the life of Xatar of Kurdish origin.
As the industry journal »Blickpunkt: Film« reports, the internationally renowned director is planning a corresponding project under the title »Rheingold«.
The Hamburg film funding is said to have already approved 700,000 euros.

Akin recently brought the serial killer horror "The Golden Glove" to the cinema, which is also based on real events.
In addition to the "Rheingold" film, Akin is developing other productions.
He is in talks for a remake of Stephen King's horror thriller "Fire Child" in the USA.
He has also been preparing a series about Marlene Dietrich with Diane Kruger in the lead role for a long time.
