Several passers-by saved a man in a wheelchair from the Main in Frankfurt.

A jogger had seen the man fall into the river on Wednesday evening, the police said.

The 21-year-old immediately ran to the spot and jumped after him.

You were able to grab the 32-year-old near the shore, it said.

But at first, because of the current, she was unable to save herself to the stairs.

Only a 22-year-old and a 23-year-old man managed to pull them to the bank with the help of a long scarf.

The jogger and the 32-year-old man were reportedly taken care of on site by rescue workers, brought to a hospital and admitted to the hospital.

According to the police, it is not yet known why the man fell into the river.

The German Red Cross advises not to jump after drowning people: "Those who are not trained as rescuers should not go into the water," writes the association on its website.

Instead, one should dial the emergency call and, if possible, start the rescue from the bank.
