The monthly salary of German parliamentarians will undergo a cut of 60 euros and 50 cents from 1 July due to the decrease in the national average wage index by 0.6% in 2020, as announced by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis.
This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the Bundestag to Dpa.
The compensation of German parliamentarians is indexed to average wages.
According to Bild, this is the first time such a thing has happened in the history of the German parliament.
The monthly remuneration of German parliamentarians from July will therefore amount to around 10,022 euros.
