(ANSA) - PERUGIA, FEBRUARY 19 - The first documents acquired by the Perugia prosecutor's office as part of the investigation that aims to ascertain whether a sort of parallel market to the official one exists for Covid vaccines.

Investigations conducted by the Nas Carabinieri and covered by the utmost confidentiality.

In any case, the investigators would have taken some documents from the Commissioner for the Covid emergency and Aifa, the Italian drug agency.

Material now being examined by the investigators coordinated by the public prosecutor Raffaele Cantone and by the substitute Gennaro Iannarone.

The Perugian magistrates ordered the acquisition of the documentation deemed useful to ascertain the methods of procurement of vaccines, the regulatory-contractual framework in force at national and European level, the methods and criteria for distribution between regions, as well as whether there are Italian regions that have submitted requests for the purposes of direct supply.

Activities also arranged at the headquarters of the Veneto Region.

The investigations were initiated after what the investigators believe to be an attempted fraud carried out by a 40-year-old cleanser, originally from the province of Messina, who last January, falsely crediting himself as an intermediary on behalf of Astrazaneca Internazionale, had proposed the purchase to the Umbria Region. of anti-Covid vaccines, (ANSA).
