  • "Rehearsals" is like a harasser's defense.

    Erez Driggs

Pop up, look, the clichéd debate about how it makes sense for Erez Driggs to dump Noa Koller and break her heart finally stopped.

The revelations about Driggs' sleazy behavior and attempts at serial seduction towards young women, when in one case revealed on the "Politically Calling" website it is a minor, raise other questions - and above all, how did everyone miss the preliminary clues?

Let’s remember what we saw in the first season of “Rehearsals”.

A plot with a TV star who sends girls obscene pictures, holds an endless pool of girls on the phone and spends his time sending sexual messages to them.

"I have problems of my own, so everyone will take care of their own problems," Noa Koller's character slaps him, sending hands without her consent.

In response he undresses, exposes himself to her face and continues to make obscene suggestions.

Finally, the actor messes with a minor and then is appalled by the consequences of his actions: "I asked how old she is. I always ask. Am I supposed to ask for an ID?"

Marciano, this character played by Itai Turgeman, operates in a gray area.

He is disturbing, but with childish niceness, aware of his habits and trying to correct himself as he continues to hurt other girls.

Chapter after chapter, each time in a different way.

An actor who takes advantage of his position to "burden" fans.

And everything is innocent and legal, but at the same time also sleazy and disturbing.

More or less the story of Driggs, who as I recall wrote this script with Koller.

The clues were all implanted in the series.

Harassment, exploitation and gluttony.

The actor is portrayed in it as an obsessive dress chaser, a "sex addict" who tries to straighten out.

He is not slick or a manipulator, but just a self-centered self-centered idiot.

Disturbing lite, which the average viewer finds easy to connect with and forgive.

In contrast, the main character, played by Driggs, is actually a dosh guy, jealous and emotionally crippled, who tends to belittle his / her ex.

All the male characters in "rehearsals" are toxic, however the women accept them despite these flaws, as evidenced by the season's ending scene that seemingly normalizes the disturbing sides that have been revealed.

Allegedly, Koller, as the one who signed with Driggs on a series based on their lives, is supposed to know the goods well.

After all, they have been a couple for a year and partners for more than a decade.

So the response she posted over the weekend, following the public outcry, sounds too diplomatic.

"It's not a package I know," she claimed, as if she had not watched a series she herself had done.

The corporation, too, was caught with their pants down, and were "surprised" by the publications about the star of their flagship series.

The allegations and testimonies about Driggs, however, have been circulating on the net for weeks, and he, too, never denied them when asked to comment on them.

More than that, Driggs argued that making the series part of a process of recovery and change in his behavior;

But "Rehearsals" is not a series that recognizes the harm that men cause to women, its plot does not touch on the consequences of the acts on the victims, but tries to explain in a crooked way the motive for such behavior.

In fact, "Rehearsals" is like a troublemaker's defense, so it's hard to understand what change Driggs was talking about.

In the plot of "Rehearsals" the actor was thrown out of the TV show starring him after his harassment crossed a line.

Will the current storm be a trigger for the cancellation of the series or a sequel without the main actor and one of its creators?

Those involved are undecided, and public opinion will have a decisive impact.

If we look at previous cases of exploitation of girls, for example with Micha and Atzili or Eyal Golan, we will understand that such a stain does not necessarily end a career.

No need for another season, but if it is decided yes, it makes no sense to produce it without Driggs.

On the contrary, an answer inspired by the affair will bring more explanatory benefit, and will provide Driggs with an opportunity to provide a genuine apology.
