Government spokesman Gabriel Attal admitted on Sunday, taking note of the evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic in France, that the hypothesis of a loosening of health measures was moving away.
"It goes back a little" and "the trend is unfortunately not to loosen the constraint", declared Gabriel Attal to the Grand Jury RTL - LCI - Le Figaro.
At the national level, "the trend over the last three days is not good, it is no longer good", lamented the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on Saturday.
Between Friday and Saturday, more than 22,000 new cases were recorded, after 24,000 the day before.
Hospital pressure also remains high, with 25,269 patients with Covid-19 hospitalized, including more than 3,300 in intensive care, the most serious cases.
"This does not mean that there is a fatality"
"This virus can still surprise us", underlined Gabriel Attal, evoking the uncertainties on the propagation of the different appeared variants, but "that does not mean that there is a fatality".
The spokesperson reiterated that the government's objective was, as much as possible, to avoid a third confinement of the French.
Gabriel Attal also defended the vaccine strategy, assuring that "France is the country of the European Union in which there were the most" of first injections of the vaccine, and where the average age of the first vaccinated people is the most Student.
While the epidemic is blazing in the Alpes-Maritimes, he refused to deflower the new health measures expected in this department, limiting himself to confirming that "it is imminent".
