(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 21 - Etna has returned to show for a few hours, but this time raising its 'curtain' just before midnight with a pulsating lava fountain and a lava flow from the South-East crater.
It was a phase of increasing energy until its complete exhaustion, followed by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology-Etna Observatory of Catania.
About an hour after the beginning of the new phenomenon on the South-East crater other mouths were activated, in the direction of the "mouth of the saddle".
Subsequently, the activity further intensified, generating lava jets 800-1,000 meters high.
Shortly afterwards, a lava overflow began from the "saddle mouth", feeding a lava flow directed towards the southwest.
An eruptive column rose towards the sky for several kilometers above the summit of Etna.
In the early stages of the 'show', as evidenced by photographs posted by Ingv-Oe on the INGVvulcani Facebook page, he 'witnessed' a moon 'setting' from above.
A spectacle that after yet another violent and spectacular paroxysmal phase ended around 2am, ceasing completely 20 minutes later.
The lava flows have continued slowly to advance, the fronts of the longest 'arm' are in the desert Valle del Bove, about 3.5-4 kilometers away from the mouth and at an altitude between 1,700 and 1,800 meters above sea level.
The south-west direct lava flow traveled only a few hundred meters.
The average amplitude of the volcanic tremor with the cessation of the paroxysm has undergone a sudden and drastic decrease of its values and has reached the average level, with the tendency to decrease further.
