The Heidelberg fraternity Normannia is considered a right scandal troupe. Leader Leon Stockmann gives insights into the inner workings of the connection.

There were times when Leon Stockmann felt trapped in the Villa Stückgarten.

Now he stands in front of the large brick building of the Normannia fraternity on the slope below Heidelberg Castle and says: "I'm no longer afraid of them."

Stockmann himself was a member of the association until August 2019.

"The others abused me and put me under pressure because I criticized their behavior," he says.

In the end he was only repelled by the fact that most of the Federal Brothers got drunk and heard Hitler speeches.

Almost every day someone greeted him with "Heil Hitler".

At times, the right-wing extremist "Identitarian Movement" held their regulars' table in the villa.

However, Stockmann's exit was

not easy.

Normannia offered him social security.

But in the end he gave himself a push, he says.

He justified his move with the "massively burgeoning right-wing extremism" in the house.

The greatest grievance within the association is the "glorifying commitment to National Socialism".

SPIEGEL has received the resignation letter.

It was aimed at the old rulers, the members of the association who had already entered professional life.
