Emergency landing in Denver: "I heard the explosion right outside my window"

Shortly after take-off in Denver, the engine of a Boeing went up in flames - debris fell on a residential area. Eyewitnesses report what happened inside the machine.

Scary pictures from United Airlines Flight 328. The machine was on its way to Hawaii when the right engine failed shortly after take-off in Denver.

The plane made an emergency landing in Denver, nobody was injured.

However, numerous debris fell on a residential area in Broomfield, a suburb of Denver.

Larger pieces of the engine cowling ended up in the garden of a house, other aircraft parts on a sports field.

The fact that we still have no reports of injuries is shocking.

The US Air Traffic Control Authority said it would open an investigation into the incident.

The Broomfield police called on residents not to touch the debris so as not to obstruct the investigation.
