The Information and Knowledge Center of the National Security Agency announced today (Monday) that the coefficient of infection of the corona virus has risen slightly.

Also, on the weekend of Purim, the Megillah reads the parties and meals in it, when there is a fear of mass events that may intensify the infection.

Against this background, we turned to a number of health experts to find out what they think and how to prepare for the holiday.

"The National Security Agency will deal with intelligence and not medicine"

Prof. Zvika Granot from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University, is not impressed by the AMN report: "I know that the AMN was included in the circle of occupation in Corona when the epidemic began, but in forgiveness I am against all this pressure ".

"Medicine is frustrating trends and not a daily process. So if we see a trend over time - then it will be possible to have an opinion in the field. All the noise on a day-to-day basis is a panic for its own sake and is not conducted in medicine that way."

"When it comes to Purim, unfortunately those who have to be told not to gather or read a scroll or have meals anyway do not listen to the government, so imposing a ban on the entire public is unnecessary. Therefore, I do not see any reason at the moment to order a general closure because it will not change anything. "

"Based on one day do not set a policy"

Prof. Nadav Davidovich, head of the School of Public Health at Ben-Gurion University and a member of the government advisory team, believes that the change in the infection rate at the moment is not overly worrying:

In any case, we do not change policy on a one-day basis, and we need to follow and see what happens over several days in order to understand the trend. "

Regarding the holiday of Purim, Prof. Davidovich claimed that he supports the restrictions: "It should be remembered that we are dealing with mutations of the virus and therefore the disease is still here. Also, not all the public at risk have been vaccinated, "I also call on the people themselves to pray outside if Purim is a non-rainy day, it is better and will protect them."

"Do not strengthen the restrictions"

Professor Eitan Friedman, an expert in internal medicine and medical genetics, founder and director of the Oncogenetics Unit at the Sheba Institute at the Sheba Hospital, and a full professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Tel Aviv University, calls for the removal of the Corona.

"AMN does not understand the epidemics.

They act like computer people in a field that requires medical professionals: people who understand epidemics, psychiatrists who understand vulnerabilities caused by closures, and educators who understand the implications of school closures for students.

The Armed Forces has never scored here in its assessments, and the Armed Forces investigators should be taken with composure and much more relaxed.

In general, if I had stated, I would have returned the people of the Armed Forces to engage in military processes. "

As for the closure, even now conventions are forbidden, so there should be no restriction.

A night curfew will not be helpful here because the virus does not live by the rules of night and day, so there is nothing at all to think about such an idea.

The law should be enforced and those who gather should be punished, and this can be done right now and should not drive the system crazy.

"The rules should be clear, with coordinated enforcement, and the public should know what is happening and that not every day, according to small changes, will drive everyone crazy."

"The public must cooperate"

Professor Dror Mevorach, director of the corona department at Hadassah, believes that all gatherings should be banned, and not just a curfew imposed.

"I am not against a night curfew, but we are at a stage where there is a need for cooperation with the general public in understanding the fight against the Corona plague. In my opinion, perhaps even a large gathering on Purim should have been banned and the public asked to cooperate with it."

"I may be naive and already the Torah itself calls us with a hard back, but the public must cooperate with the government hand in hand in the fight against the corona plague. "I am not against a night curfew, it prevents infection, but in all the countries where there was only a night curfew, it was not enough.

A source close to the former director general of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar-Siman Tov, says that the position of the Ministry of Health should be backed up, according to which a closure should be imposed on Purim.

If there is a fear that Purim will be an infectious event - then it is better to go for the strictest fear and not take risks.

It is always important to be even a little more careful, and to prepare for problematic scenarios, and not just endanger the public. "
