Hand in hand with the world for a year in check of the pandemic - health anxieties, the economic crisis and accentuated social injustices, the policies we would like to be closer to the citizens - everything changes, makes us feel agitated and we are witnessing a real 'mental health crisis' because faced with Covid-19 every single aspect of human life seems different to us, changing the priorities acquired.

The need for protection is growing spasmodically, to feel good at home, at work, outdoors, on vacation (when we start traveling again).

The vital need to 'feel better' is the crux of change that is reflected in the entire wellness sector

, whose economy grinds

4.5 trillion dollars worldwide.

is about to suffer according to the new report on world wellness trends 2021. The study has just been presented by analysts of the Global Wellness Institute in a streaming press conference attended by thousands of professionals from all countries.

The forced closures of gyms, wellness centers and spas around the world are making the offer rethink that will no longer be the one experienced in past years.

Gymnastics is a distant memory, it is

spiritual and healthy fitness

that in this phase assists us in the most stressful moments and in the difficulties to believe that the problems accentuated by the pandemic will be resolved soon.

The need for well-being will nestle in many sectors: from cinema to TV, from music to architecture, at home, at work (smart working or not), outdoors up to the travels that we will return to but in a completely new way.

Susie Ellis, CEO of GWS, explained.

"We are experiencing a

mental wellbeing crisis

that has changed every aspect of human life. The crisis has made wellbeing radically more important to people overnight, a top priority, while COVID-19 has exposed us to a terrible cost. All this has clearly strengthened the

search for 'preventive well-being'

. The wellness industry in the past had focused mainly on elitist, hyper-trendy and scientifically proof-free solutions that suddenly seem so out of place today. "

Well-being is therefore at a turning point.

The sector will be more inclusive, accessible and convenient with the aim of restoring balance and calm to the growing people of stressed people who now want guarantees of effectiveness of the systems proposed by the gurus of fitness and meditation.

The report outlines some strong trends that affect many fields: from the entertainment industry such as TV series, docu-fiction and films dedicated to the search for well-being, to music that offers musical tracks for calming purposes (the business of Apps with music at theme has already skyrocketed from 2020).

From the architecture that will design 'spiritual' houses with areas dedicated to meditation, prayer, holistic wellness and yoga.

In addition to creating corners for home fitness as practiced in the various lockdowns in 2021 we will modify verandas, living rooms, parts of terraces and gardens to create spaces for sacred moments and only for us. Another strong urgent need will be to

'breathe'

well, clean, away from the smog, pristine.

Hence the new business of new generation filter masks, also designed to do physical activity in gyms and protect oneself from Covid, but also masks that deliver pure oxygen while perhaps pedaling on an exercise bike on the terrace or at home, also improving performance.

Wellness

will also enter the workplace more

: outdoor meetings between colleagues will be experienced, with walks and trekking included in the time or meeting rooms (large areas, at a safe distance and with masks) also equipped with exercise bikes for those who wants to move during meetings. The well-being of 2021 must bring with it the evidence, we said.

For this reason, the proposals will be increasingly based on evidence and less on empirical methods and

success

is expected

for everything that stimulates the immune system to defend itself

(supplements, physical activity, nutraceuticals and even health recipes).

Finally, the desire for well-being will lead us to travel again, 'distant' journeys, in the midst of nature and alone.

Analysts imagine a boom in reservations for boats, campers, campsites in isolated places and tour operators able to offer

immersive experiences in unspoiled nature

and regenerating wellness treatments.
