These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. «The streaming service Disney + put this information before a season of» The Muppet Show «.

Overall, the industry service "Variety" reports, such a plaque can now be found 18 episodes of the puppet show.

These come from a total of five "Muppets" seasons.

Stars such as Steve Martin, Peter Sellers, Kenny Rogers, James Coburn, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash and Debbie Harry appear in the episodes in question.

On the Stories Matter homepage belonging to Disney, the group explains its initiative to tag old, problematic content: "As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in a process of searching our archives for content."

Disney is not alone in the streaming platform market with this stance.

Other providers also sift through their material.

The streaming service HBO Max, for example, gave the Hollywood classic "Gone with the Wind", in which racist depictions of slaves can be seen, with such a hint.

It is quite possible that German broadcasters will soon be increasingly going through their archives.

Compared to SPIEGEL, the WDR, confronted with allegations of racism, has only just said that it is thinking about checking the media library content more closely.
