The authorities of the Municipal Hospital "Eva Perón" of Punta Alta, Buenos Aires party of Coronel Rosales, removed from their duties in the last hours two nurses who worked in the guard and began an administrative summary after relatives and friends of the deacon Eduardo Burgui ( 58) denounced that he
died of a heart attack due to an alleged lack of care
.
From the preliminary information and the report of the head of the guard, it appears that the nurses told the patient that the doctor was busy, but
"the doctor on duty was not informed,"
said the director of
the medical
center Eduardo Toscani.
The director of the municipal hospital said that, due to this, a summary was initiated by the commune and "the decision was made to separate the two nurses from the medical guard."
"In the event that the doctors are busy, the nurse at least
makes it happen, takes the vital signs while
waiting for the doctor to inform him that he found," said Toscani, who indicated that
"that did not happen either
.
"
In this sense, he added: "It is unfortunate and very sad because they are professional nurses and they know what their task and function are, and
they ignored
the specific task for which they are hired."
Burgui was a deacon of the María Auxiliadora parish in Punta Alta and the event that led to his death occurred at dawn on Friday, February 19.
According to the witnesses,
Burgui felt breathing difficulties
, for which he decided to go to the hospital guard, where he had to wait for
an hour
to be treated.
"No one took his pressure, no one examined him, they told him that the doctor could not treat him because he was in the Covid room," said a woman identified as Marcela Amori, close to the family.
According to his account in dialogue with the local press, the deacon "returned home" and, "as it continued to get worse," they asked for help "until an ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital,
but he had already died
."
"From what I understand there was no doctor in the ambulance," the woman added, indicating that the man "had a stent that had been placed approximately two years ago."
