As of this weekend, the bars and restaurants of the Province of Buenos Aires will be able to operate

without a time limit

, since the Buenos Aires government decided to put an end to the limits that had been imposed on nights in mid-January.

The decision was announced on Tuesday by Governor Axel Kicillof from Necochea, where he made the weekly report on the epidemiological situation in Buenos Aires tourist destinations.

The measure had been taken on January 11, after - after the Holidays and the start of the summer season - coronavirus infections soared.

In the first instance, most of the Buenos Aires districts - including all those with tourist attractions -

had to close at 1

and could reopen at 6.

At that time, the daily average of new Covid-19 cases had registered a peak of

more than 4,500

.

At the beginning of February, after a reduction in the number of infections, it was decided to extend the night time by one hour and

the closing time passed to 2

.

At that time, daily cases were around 3,600.

Now the Buenos Aires authorities see "a significant decrease" in the number of newly infected.

The Minister of Health, Daniel Gollan, reported that they fell for the sixth consecutive week and reached a daily weekly average of 2,325.

When announcing the end of the restrictions, Kicillof clarified that those municipalities in which the local health authorities consider it necessary due to their epidemiological situation may continue in force.
